• Radburn Station is a New Jersey Transit train station serving the Bergen County Line. Built in 1930, the station depot is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its architecture is Dutch Colonial Revival style and the new canopy on the station platform now reflects that style. • Underground conduit was run the length of the 140’ long platform. Overhead lighting was installed in the new canopy along with raceways for speakers and surveillance. Ticket vending machines at the depot also received new raceway protection. Temporary power was also provided throughout construction. • One difficult aspect of the job was the requirement that the station remain in service throughout construction. The work area was fenced off to prevent people from wandering through it and a flagman was posted at all times. The persistent flow of commuters made planning and coordination crucial to the timely completion of the project. • The new canopy at this historic station provides commuters with protection from the elements on a well lit and secure platform.
