• Beach Electric Company began performing all electrical and low-voltage cabling work as a subcontractor for D&K Construction, Inc. for the new Keansburg Police Headquarters in October of 2017. • The new construction was in response to damages made by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, which were particularly extensive in the low-lying hamlet of Keansburg, New Jersey. • FEMA flood maps now show Keansburg, a town in northern Monmouth County, as one of the most at-risk communities by population for flooding. New regulations required the Police Headquarters be raised in order to acclimate to the risk. • Because this project had to adhere to FEMA standards, the evolution of work took longer than preferred. The original bid for general contract work was set for November 5, 2015. Work by D&K Construction did not commence until mid-2016. Furthermore, the project is more extensive than one might assume and the scope of work required completion in under one year from commencement. • Walls were built seven-feet high and then backfilled with sediment before being tamped down to begin foundations for the building. Beach Electric Co. provided all electrical and low-voltage cabling work installation including installation of a new emergency back-up generation and UPS System, furnished and installed new lighting, lighting control system, tele data cabling, CCTV System, fire alarm and security systems. • One of the challenging aspects of this project was facilitating the removal of the Police Antennas from the old police station to be utilized on the new building. • The new two-story, 10,000 sq. ft. Police Headquarters is completely framed out of steel and placed on a new platform, making the building essentially invincible to any future flooding.
